The natural gas storage concession area of San Potito and Cotignola was granted to Edison Storage by the Ministry for Economic Development, in agreement with the Ministry for the Environment and the Protection of Land and Sea (Italian acronym: MATTM) by means of a Ministerial Decree, on 24th April 2009.
Construction works began in May 2010 and finished in May 2013. The development of this facility has produced an increase in capacity, while the original conditions of the field were fully respected. The San Potito and Cotignola field has a storage capacity of about 400 million cubic metres of natural gas and consists of 11 active wells.
