Fraine Wind Farm (CH)

The Fraine wind farm has been active since 2002 and has 15 triblade wind turbines expressing a unitary capacity of 0.6 MW, adding up to a total installed capacity of 9 MW. The energy produced by each wind turbine is collected at MV by means of an underground cable network. An underground duct connects the MV/LV cabins, and then goes on to the Electrical Station in Monteferrante, where the energy is transformed and enters the public grid at 150 kV voltage.

The wind farm is located in the area of Costa Crognale, within the Municipality of Fraine, in a mountainous area characterised by sparse, low- and medium-sized trees and very rounded mountain tops.
