Edison inaugurates the new Research and Development Centre
Milan, 16 June 2015 – Edison inaugurates the new Research and Development Centre in Trofarello, near Turin, an Italian excellence centre researching innovative solutions in energy efficiency. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place today in the Hydrocarbon Lab, which includes a Geochemistry, Geomechanics, and Petrophysics section, all of them equipped with state-of-the-art technology that will enable the development of special sponges to clean up the sea, increasingly precise algorithms to study oil and gas in rocks and to acquire 3D images.
The Edison Research, Development and Innovation Centre operates in close cooperation with Edf's R&D department, and boasts a variety of national and international partnerships with the world of academics and business, including most recently a cooperation with Stanford University for the simulation and projections of the morphology of oil fields, the Polytechnic University of Turin for hydrocarbons, the University of Pisa for the development and the implementation of more effective algorithms for seismic data processing, the University of Milan Bicocca for the development of soft computing techniques and hydrocarbon testing techniques, and the Genova-based Italian Institute of Technology for nanostructured materials.
