Edison acquires wind farm in southern italy and grows in renewables business
Edison, through its controlled company EDENS (Edison Energie Speciali), has completed the acquisition from Gamesa Energia SA of the 100% of the 26 MW working wind farm “San Francesco” in Melissa, Crotone province, Calabria Region, in Italy.
The plant has been working since May 2009 and is able to produce 46 GWh of electricity thus satisfying the electric power needs of average 18,000 a year. Turbiens of the plant are Gamesa G87 with a nominal power of 2 MW each.
This acquisition is part of Edison’s growth plan in the renewables business. Today, Edison has an installed capacity of more than 2,100 MW of which 1,690 MW from large scale hydroelectric, 49 MW from mini hydro, more than 400 MW from wind, 3.3 MW from sun and 6 MW from solid biomasses.
